The EMS Gateway is intended to be installed as a dedicated energy-management appliance between a supported inverter and the EMS cloud platform.

Intended environment

• residential or light-commercial installation
• local connection to inverter over RS485
• Wi-Fi access to customer network
• outbound Internet connectivity

Intended user roles

• customer / owner
• installer
• EMS support operator
• EMS backend services

Foreseeable misuse

• connecting unsupported RS485 equipment
• exposing local maintenance services to untrusted networks
• removing the microSD card and modifying the filesystem
• cloning storage to another Raspberry Pi
• attempting to reuse credentials on a different device
• sending malformed or replayed control commands

Safety/security boundary

Cloud-side access must never provide unrestricted raw Modbus register write capability.
